The Nepali Congress (NC) cadres called a general strike in Jajarkot district on Wednesday in protest of NC student leader Rabindra Shah's murder on Tuesday.
Shah, 36, was a permanent resident of Bherimalika Municipality-3 in the district.
The cadres chanted slogans demanding stern action against the guilty.
Issuing separate statements, Civil Society, Nepal Students Union (NSU) and the NC Jajarkot protested the murder.
Shah, former central member of NC aligned Nepal Student Union (NSU), was stoned to death at Jajarkot-Dolpa roadside near Jajarkot District Hospital yesterday evening.
It has been learnt that the incident occurred while he was returning home from office.
