The agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha boycotted the Legislature-Parliament meeting on Tuesday.
After Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar announced the commencement of the meeting, Madhesi Morcha, the alliance of seven madhes-centric parties, lawmakers stood up from their respective seats and started chanting slogans.
Later, the Speaker gave time to the Sadbhawana Party lawmaker Laxman Lal Karna to put views on behalf of the Madhesi Morcha.
Karna took the opportunity to accuse the government of being insensitive towards the welfare of the country and people despite its expansion.
"The police firing in Saptari on Madheshi people shows that government is not sensitive,” he said, adding, “The Morcha’s proposal to amend the constitution has been ignored by the government and the major political parties.”
Accusing the Local Level Restructuring Commission of reducing the Madhesi's representation at the local level, he said, “The Madhesi people will not accept the LLRC report and the elections until their voices for the constitution amendment are addressed. “
"The country is presently in a complicated situation and on this backdrop, the Speaker's role is important. We demand the government and political parties to further hold talks to find a way out to the nation from existing transition," he asserted.
