The people of Sulubung VDC in Ilam district have protested the government’s decision to assign Maipokhari VDC as the administrative centre of Sandakpur Village Council.

They have demanded that Deurali Bazaar should be made the administrative centre, as proposed by the technical committee of the Local Level Restructuring Commission (LLRC). 

Hari Lungeli, a Sulubung local, said Maipokhari was not a convenient location for an administrative centre.

The villagers have decided to submit a memorandum of their demand to the local authorities. Sandakpur Village Council includes Jamuna, Sulubung and Majhuwa VDCs, and six wards of Maipokhari VDC.

Sukhipur villagers in protest 

SIRAHA: The residents of Sukhipur village in Siraha padlocked the village council’s office on Sunday, enraged that the former municipality was given a village council status by the Local Level Restructuring Commission.

They said that they will not allow the office to run until Sukhipur is given the municipality status. (PR)
