Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha has enforced a banda in Saptari district in protest against the death of its cadres in Monday’s police firing.

Morcha cadres have been demonstrating since early morning in Bhardaha, Kanchanpur, Rupani, Kalyanpur of the district.Three Morcha cadres had died and at least seven others sustained bullet injuries in a clash with police while trying to disrupt the CPN-UML’s assembly in the district.

Clashes occur on second day

Morcha cadres also clashed with police near the District Court office today.

Police fired three tear gas shells to contain the situation after Morcha cadres rained stones on the security personnel.

NHRC vehicle attacked

Likewise, the unruly protesters vandalised a National Human Rights Commission vehicle (Ba 7 Cha 7473). The vehicle was carrying four NHRC staffers. They have been safely escorted to the district court.

SLMM cadres earlier vandalised the offices of muncipality and Telecom at the district headquarters, Rajbiraj.

APF's post vandalised

Irate cadres have vandalised an Armed Police Force post at Bhardaha. There were no APF personnel at the post during the vandalism.
