Micro-finance staff shot in broad daylight robbery

Senior field assistant at Jiwan Bikas Samaj microfinance, Ghanshyam Bahardar, 37, of Goditole, Rangeli-11 sustained injuries to his left thigh in the attack that took place at a bridge in Karsiya in the district, according to police. Bahardar is receiving medical treatment at Birat Nursing Home.
A suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident and search has been intensified to nab other perpetrators, informed SP Sandip Bhandari.
Bahardar was returning from Bairiya, Dadar after collecting the money for the micro finance being run by the samaj when the assailants attacked him and made away with cash over Rs 200,000, said Jiwan Bikas Samaj Field Assistant Rabindra Kumar Thakur.
Doctors involved in Bahardar's treatment said the bullet seemed to have pierced his thigh muscle. However, an x-ray will determine the extent of the injuries, said Dr Phanindra Prasad Mandal.
