Election date will be announced by Jan end: PM Dahal
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the government will announce election dates by the end of January.Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the government will announce election dates by the end of January. He expressed his worry that country might revert back into a more complex political scenario than 2017BS if elections could not be conducted in time.
Speaking at a programme organised in the Capital on Sunday, the Maoist Chairman said, “I have undertaken risks many times as a rebel leader and as a signatory of the peace accord. The announcement of election might not be acceptable to all. However, I am willing to take the risk and make this unsmooth decision.”
PM Dahal put forth three alternatives to end the current stalemate over constitution amendment. According to the PM, the way out from the current deadlock could be to forge consensus from all political parties; resolve amendment and other political issues in a package; or seeking consensus for registering another amendment proposal.
A three-party meeting convened at PM’s official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday had reached an agreement to hold local level elections by mid-May.
