Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has instructed Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi to expedite work to lay the groundwork for his India visit, which is likely to take place before he embarks on a trip to New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly.
PM Dahal is scheduled to leave for the UNGA in the third week of September.
The instructions follow indications from India that New Delhi wants to welcome PM Dahal as early as possible.
Immediately after his election as the prime minister on August 3, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had telephoned Dahal and invited him to visit India. Though the date of the visit is yet to be fixed, sources said it will most likely take place in the second week of September. Indian Ambassador Ranjit Rae is currently in New Delhi as part of preparations of PM Dahal’s visit to India.
