A person was found dead inside a burned-out electric vehicle in Bharatpur on Friday morning, police said.

The incident occurred around 6am in the Basanta Chowk-Gondrang area of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-9, along the East-West Highway, according to the District Police Office, Chitwan.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandra Bhushan Yadav, the police spokesperson in Chitwan, said the electric vehicle caught fire while travelling west along the highway’s service lane.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and found a person inside the vehicle who had died from the fire, Yadav said. The person’s identity has not yet been established.

The vehicle was also badly damaged. Police have begun an investigation into the incident, Yadav said.
