Jhapa floods: Dozens of families displaced, hundreds of houses inundated
As many as 500 houses have been inundated in different places of Jhapa district due to the floods triggered by incessant rainfall, police has estimated.As many as 500 houses have been inundated in different places of Jhapa district due to the floods triggered by incessant rainfall, police has estimated. The floods have affected over 5000 people in the district.
Different wards of Mechinagar, Birtamod, Duwagadi, Bhadrapur, Surunga, and Damak, among other places of the district have been affected by the floods.
According to an early estimate by police, more than 500 houses have been inundated affecting mostly the southern villages of the district. Dozens of rivers and rivulets including Mechi, Paliya, Ninda, Hadiya, Deuniya, Anduwa, Kankai, Biring, Tangting, Kamal, and Ratuwa have been flooded. The flood in Aduwa Khola inundated most of Birtamode bazaar.
The flood affected people have been shifted to the safer zones. Security personnel have been mobilized in the risky zones. RSS
