Malaysia’s mobile service provider Digii Telecommunications has supported the deportation of 20 Nepali migrant workers who were left stranded after completing jail terms. The company bought air tickets for the migrant workers.
In a statement on Tuesday, Nepali Embassy at Malaysia said that all 20 Nepalis stuck at Lenggeng Depot of immigration at Negeri Sembilan have been rescued.
They were stranded at the depot for a long time due to lack air fare.
For the past one year, the embassy has been campaigning to deport the Nepalis left behind at the immigration detention centre after doing their time in jail.
As part of the campaign, a total of 521 Nepali migrant workers have been rescued with the support from various government and non-government organisations.
Almost half of the workers were deported with the financial assistance extended by Foreign Employment Promotion Board.
