The report entitled “Pathways to Better Nutrition” published on Wednesday shows that prevalence of underweight among children in Achham is 36 percent; in Kaplivastu it is 46.4 percent; and in Parsa it is 34 percent. The national average of underweight prevalence is 29 percent.
“All three districts will need to make double-digit improvements in nearly all of their children nutrition indicator to meet the 2017 Multi-sector Nutrition Plan (MSNP) targets,” the report states.
The report also found that there has been a significant understanding among community people on MSNP that aims to dramatically decrease the maternal and child under-nutrition status in Nepal.
The report has recommended the government to hire more human resources
for the task by providing incentives to the staff to work in remote VDCs.
