The United States has said it has cancelled its “Travel Warning for Nepal”.
The United States on October 8 last year had advised its citizens to reconsider their travel plans to Nepal in the wake of unrest in the Tarai and countrywide fuel shortages.
“Because conditions have changed, the travel warning was cancelled effective February 29, 2016,” the US Department of State said in a statement on Tuesday.
After the promulgation of the constitution, protests erupted in the Tarai region and there was a border blockade, which resulted in acute shortages of fuel across the country.
Cargo movement through Nepal-India border resumed on February 5 and the Tarai-based political parties officially called off their protests on February 8.
