The Raxaul-Birgunj border entry point that opened for a few hours on Friday morning was shut again later in the day after Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha obstructed it.

Morcha cadres gathered again at the Miteri bridge and burnt tyres in protest after the news of obstruction being lifted came to light.

Earlier in the day, five cargo trucks entered Nepal through the Birgunj customs first time since the agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha supporters began their sit-in protest at the border entry point on September 24, 2015.

The Indian side sent the freight carriers early morning at 6 am when the border point was less active. Likewise, five empty cargo trucks along with two jeeps that were stranded on the Nepali side have also crossed into the Indian side.
