Earthquake-affected Chepang families in Lothar-7 are in dilemma over building new homes.
The majority of the quake survivors in the area are living in sheds and huts since the devastating quake destroyed their houses on April 25 last year.
Hokse Chepang, a quake survivor, said said his seven-member family is forced to live under a shed as they are clueless about the model of a new house they need to build with galvanized zinc sheets provided by the government.
But no VDC secretary and engineers have reached the quake-hit areas to provide information about building construction since distributing the metal sheets, according to villagers. As a result, many of the quake survivors in the village have to put off their plans to build new homes. “I don’t know where do we stay if the quake destroys our houses again?” asked Hokse. Twenty-seven households in the VDC were destroyed by the Great Earthquake.
Dal Bahadur Chepang, another quake survivor, called on the government to train them to build quake-resilient houses.
