“There will be no changes in the current seven-state model anytime soon. The disputed Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari district will also remain in their respective federal state,” said Sitaula during a press meet in Biratnagar.
Sitaula refused to acknowledge the protests in the Tarai region happening for the past three months. “We still don’t know what the demands of the Madhesi Morcha. They have started to attend the parliament meeting. We will know about it only after they inform their demands to the parliament,” he said.
Sitaula also urged Indian government to lift the unofficial blockade it had imposed against Nepal. He, however, clarified that India had not put any kind of pressure to amend some provisions of the constitution.
