Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital adds new ward
Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital (BCH) has opened an annexe ward equipped with 27 beds, an isolation unit, an ICU and nephrology department.The new facility was inaugurated by President Ram Baran Yadav on Friday. Health Secretary Santa Bahadur Shrestha and Chairman of Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party Narayan Man Bijukchhe were also present at the inauguration event. Raja Ram Tajale, administrator of BCH, said the new facility was constructed with an investment of Rs 3.8 million.
BCH has been offering chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, barchytherapy, palliative care and pain management services. The second largest cancer hospital in the country, BCH was established by Nepal Cancer Relief Society in 1992 with the assistance of Sahid Smriti Cancer Service Group. The hospital that began its service with 15 beds now has 97 beds and 172 staff.
The hospital receives 10 new cancer patients every day.
