Dahal sets out on world cycle tour
Nepali cyclist Saurab Dahal has paddled more than 70 countries since 2007 to spread the message of world peace, a cleaner environment and importance of education.Ekantipur Report
Acknowledging his effort to glorify nation, Nepali embassies and Nepali community based in different countries extended support to him to achieve his goal. 'Equal Opportunity to all Nepali' was one of the slogans of his cycle tour which aims to provide equal education opportunity to all Neplese girls. Beside this, his tour had different slogans which were related to environment, peace and education.
On 24th January, 2013, Dahal was in European Union Office in Belgium to hand over the picture of Mount Everest and Lumbini, birthplace of Budhdha, to Mario Kastiko Fernandez, Asia director of EU. Ekantipur, the most visited news portal in Nepal, had covered his visit to EU office.
The website had also published news of his another visit to Foreign Ministry of France in 9th November, 2012 where he met Jenero Minku, officer of Asia department to gift the poster of Lumbini. His visit to foreign officials aim to spread message about the Mt. Everest and birth place of Budhdha as many people around the world have partial information about these subjects.
The times of India, most prominent news site in India had featured him when he was in Pune, India in April 4, 2013. He was there to spread awareness on the issue of drought situation in India. His article about the cycling potential in Nepal titled "Will for Wheel" was well praised when it was published in print and web version of My Republica Daily, a popular English daily in Nepal. His article was focused on the potentiality of cycling sport in Nepal as this country has geographical diversity by nature.
Dahal is an international member of Mahatwakanksha Foundation, a Pune based NGO which working for environment with youths. He has donated money, collected during his cycle tour from the host countries, to Nepali Schools in remote area to buy logistics for schools. He was also a brand ambassador of The Kathmandu Post Daily, published by Kantipur Publication, the biggest media house in Nepal.
