Some 3,000 students have been affected after teachers halted the classes at the call of the Tribhuvan University Teachers' Association (TUTA).
TUTA Birendra Campus Unit President, Dayaram Poudel, said that they would boycott the classes for three days and have put forth a 17-point demand including promotion of teachers and calling for applications to make the teachers working on contract basis permanent.
Of the 165 teachers in the Birendra Campus, 57, are on contract basis. Campus Chief Keshav Bhakta Sapkota said that initiatives are underway to address the problems of the agitating teachers. RSS
