Currently she has been living with her newborn daughter under the care of Women Development Office in Syangja district headquarters.
Sitali said her 60-year-old father-in-law Til Bahadur Godar raped her and tried to settle the issue at home with the help of other family members, including her husband Gyan Bahadur, one year ago. “My in-laws threatened that they would kick me out of the house if I revealed information about the rape.
They also tortured my 13-year-old son, asking him to admit that he raped his
mother if any one asked about the incident,” Sitali said. She said that her in-laws tortured her time and again over dowry as well. She said her in-laws prevented her from abortion. Gyan Bahadur, however, has already married another woman.
Til Bahadur is absconding after the incident came to light. Sitali said she is supporting her four-member family (the new born daughter and two children born to Gyan Bahadur) with the help of villagers. “I have come here seeking justice and financial help,” she said.
