Nepse slips marginally as turnover declines
Benchmark index sheds 1.64 points, with more stocks declining than advancing amid lower trading activity.Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) inched down slightly on Wednesday, closing marginally lower amid a decline in trading volume and turnover.
The benchmark index slipped by 1.64 points, or 0.06 percent, to settle at 2,681.50 points. This followed a sharper fall of 12.58 points recorded on Tuesday, indicating continued cautious sentiment among investors.
Of the traded companies, share prices of 113 firms advanced, while 134 declined and 13 remained unchanged.
A total of 16.66 million shares were traded through 80,422 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs7.49 billion. This marked a decrease from Tuesday’s trading value of Rs8.63 billion.
Among the 13 sub-indices, banking, life insurance, production and processing, microfinance, mutual funds and the others group posted declines. The remaining sub-groups recorded gains, according to Nepse.
