TikTok rolls out new tools for transparency around AI-generated content
Platform introduces user controls, enhanced labelling, and a global literacy fund to strengthen safe and informed engagement with AI.Post Report
TikTok has announced a series of updates aimed at helping users better understand and manage AI-generated content, expanding its transparency efforts as artificial intelligence becomes more deeply embedded in digital creativity.
The platform will soon test a new control within the “Manage Topics” feature, allowing users to adjust how frequently AI-generated content appears in their For You feed. The tool enables people who enjoy AI-driven storytelling or educational videos to see more of them, while those who prefer less can reduce their exposure without limiting overall creativity on the app.
To reinforce transparency, TikTok is upgrading its AI labelling systems. The company already employs creator tags, detection models, and C2PA Content Credentials, and has labelled more than 1.3 billion AI-generated videos. It is now testing “invisible watermarking” — a durable, non-visible marker readable only by TikTok’s systems, even after editing or reposting. The feature will be applied to content created with TikTok’s AI tools and that uploaded with C2PA metadata in the coming weeks.
TikTok has also launched a $2 million global AI literacy fund to support nonprofits and experts in producing educational resources on recognising and responsibly using AI. The move reflects the platform’s commitment to fostering safer and more informed digital experiences as AI technologies evolve.
