Daraz Summit begins Sunday

Daraz is all set to organise Daraz Summit, its annual flagship event, on Sunday in Kathmandu.
Daraz Summit reviews the milestones that the e-commerce industry has advanced in the past two decades, underlines the current dynamics of the e-commerce ecosystem of Nepal and explores the roles that the e-commerce community can play in uplifting communities in Nepal.
This year’s Daraz Summit, according to organisers, aims to create a space for distinguished digital thought leaders of Nepal to discuss the development phases of the e-commerce industry in Nepal, prospects and challenges of business (going digital) and steps that we can take together to transform those challenges into opportunities.
The one-day event is divided into three sessions.
First session entitled ‘From conventional Commerce to E-commerce in Nepal’ will have four panelists—Guru Prasad Paudel, executive director of Payment Service Department at Nepal Rastra Bank; Ambica Shrestha, owner of Dwarika’s Hotel; Omesh Lal Shrestha, managing director, CAS Solution and Silver Lining; and Sanjib Subba, CEO of Nepal Electronic Payment System. It will be moderated by Juna Mathema of Blitz Media and Women Entrepreneurship Development Committee of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
The second session ‘Blending of the Market Place and Commerce for Digital Economy’ will have four panelists—Suresh Shrestha, director of Department of Industry; Shankar Uprety, CEO, Hamro Patro; Ayush Shrestha, country manager of Cloud Factory and Santosh Pandey, co-founder of OHO Cake and Offering Happiness. It will be moderated by Bhawani Rana, chairperson of Sneha Group and past president of FNCCI.
The panelists on the third session ‘Blending of the Market Place and Commerce for Digital Economy’ are Gobinda Bahadur Karkee, joint secretary of Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies; Dileep Agrawal of Worldlink Communications; Asheem Man Singh Basnyat, managing director of Pathao and Aanchal Kunwar, managing director of Daraz. It will be moderated by Suman Shakya of Tangent Waves, Smart Pani.
