The Cabinet on Thursday approved the guideline prepared by Nepal Army for the construction of 76-km Kathmandu-Nijgadh expressway.
According to Nepal Army Spokesperson Jhankar Kadayat, a high-powered Direction Committee formed under the leadership of Nepal Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Purna Chandra Thapa prepared the guideline.
“The guideline was sent to the Cabinet through the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport,” Kadayat said. The government has designated Nepal Army to construct the express road project ending controversy that has bogged down the project for several years.
In May, the government had decided to handover the project to Army, while the government would make necessary financial management.
