Round Table International, a social networking and charitable organisation, kicked off its 16th annual general meeting here on Wednesday with the objective of promoting Nepal’s tourism as part of its post-earthquake recovery effort.
The five-day event has brought together 625 participants from 44 countries. The organizer said that the event would help promote Nepal’s tourism. The participants are scheduled to visit various tourist destinations in Nepal and share their personal experiences in their respective countries. Among the participants, 90 percent are from European countries.
The organization is also actively participating in reconstruction projects across the country by rebuilding schools flattened by last year’s earthquake.
Round Table is a platform for the young to make the most out of their spare time and take part in corporate social responsibility activities. The first Round Table was formed in Norwich, England in 1927. The founder, Louis Marchesi, was a young member of the Norwich Rotary Club who felt there was a need for a club aimed more at the younger businessmen of the town. Today, it has 34,000 members across 60 countries.
