What makes this resort unique is it is built using discarded timers. Narayagadh-based entrepreneur Subodh Pradhan invested Rs 50 million to build the resort.
Launched just last week, this artistic resort is already witnessing large crowds of domestic as well as foreign tourists. The roof of this 40-room resort has been built using dried grass, while discarded timbers have been used to make bed and tap. Resembling a typical Tharu community house, the resort is spread across three bighas of land in the middle of a jungle on the banks of the Rapti River. “Those fed up with five star hotels in the city come here for tranquility,” said Pradhan. “That’s why we have chosen a peaceful location.”
Although Meghauli is a potential tourist destination, it has so far been overlooked due to the lack of promotional activities.
The resort, which employs 30 individuals and plan to hire 20 more, has arranged facilities like jeep and elephant safari. Visitors can watch wild animals like rhinos in the jungle and visit nearby Tharu village to enjoy the ethnic culture.
It also offers boating, and plans to add facilities like swimming pool and spa. “I am going to arrange bus facility for foreign tourists.” Former British Army Pradhan also operates PALMS Hotel in Narayagadh, employing 50 individuals.
