Addressing a programme in the Capital on Monday, Communist Party of China (CPC) leader and President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Wang Weiguang said, “World’s peace and development for everyone is equally significant to the party as we strive to achieve our own goal of emerging as a great modern socialist country with modernised economy.”
The event was organised by the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu to brief about the CPC’s 19th National Congress held in October.
During the congress, CPC General Secretary and Chinese President Xi Jinping came up with a 30-year plan to achieve the target of modernisation and turning the country into a modern socialist country while striving for the success of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The 19th CPC National Congress has adopted a two-stage development strategy to basically realise socialist modernisation in China by 2035 and turn China into a great modern socialist country by 2050.
“It will be an era of securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and of moving on to all-out efforts to build a great modern socialist country,” Wang said. “As a great socialist nation, the rest of the world can learn from our form of socialism. If we can achieve our goals successfully, the whole world can follow our footsteps of the development.”
Underlining the party’s commitment to further relations with its neighbours on the basis of the five principles of peaceful coexistence, he said: “We are committed to supporting our neighbouring countries in every sector. We want to only propose suggestions but never impose with anything. We criticise any form of suppression by powerful nation.”
The leader of the visiting Chinese delegation added that the Nepal-China relations will get stronger in future and pledged to increase the number of scholarships to Nepali students at CASS.
