Nepali Congress candidate Ananda Jha, who is contesting the upcoming third round of the local polls, has been robbed.
Robbers broke into Jha's residence at Padariya locality in Rajbiraj municipality – 1 on Tuesday night during the Jitiya festival when all the family members were out to celebrate. The robbers made their way into the house by breaking down three locks at the front gate.
The robbers made off with Rs 100,000 in cash, 10 tolas of gold, one kilo silver and one apple mobile set, District Police Office, Saptari said.
Saptari's Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Singh said an extensive search is underway to find the robbers. Jha is running for the post of ward chairman in the elections slated for September 18. RSS
