An unidentified gang smeared black soot on the face of Kawasoti Customs Office chief in Nawalparasi on Thursday.

The gang of three people barged into the customs chief’s office during office hours today and smeared the black soot on his face calling him a corrupt.

Pamphlets mentioning Jilla Janaparishad (District People’s Council) were recovered from the scene. The pamphlets said there was open corruption in practice in the customs office.

It is learnt the perpetrators are out of contact.

Area Police Office DSP Nabinraj Rai has suspected the perpetrators might be cadres of Biplav Maoist and the security personnel have been searching for them.
