Jufal Airport in Dolpa resumed operations on Friday after about three months, much to the respite of locals here who had been facing a hard time due to a lack of any other means of transportation in the mountainous district.
The airport had been closed for upgradation works for 83 days.
Flights have resumed as 90 per cent of the runway has been blacktopped now, said Bir Prasad Shahi, chief of Airport Upgradation Project, adding that the remaining works will soon be completed.
The resumption of flights just days ahead of the Dashain festival, locals said, has certainly made people happy, as they were facing a blockade-like situation due to lack of any other means of transportation to the district.
According to Shahi, the authorities decided to resume flights because of the inconveniences people were facing, including acute scarcity of daily essentials.
