A couple committed suicide one after another at Panauti Municipality-5 in Kavre on Wednesday evening.

The husband, Dipak KC, 35, consumed pesticide after finding out that his wife, Salina, 29, had hung herself. He died during treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital, police said.

The couple’s relatives told police that the husband and wife had fought earlier in the day.

Dipak is said to have consumed pesticide, devastated by his partner’s suicide.

Incidents of suicide have risen in Kavre in the recent days.

Police said at least 27 people committed suicide in the district in the last 45 days. (PR)
