Lawmakers from various parties, including the Nepali Congress, on Tuesday criticised the government, saying it had bowed down to Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority chief Lokman Singh Karki.
Addressing the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament, they said that the government was sitting idle at a time when the Supreme Court was struggling to deliver a summons to Karki. NC lawmaker Radheshyam Adhikari said the obstruction by Karki’s aides on Monday while SC staffers were trying to deliver the summons at his home amounted to contempt of court. The incident has made a mockery of rule of law, he said. “The government and Parliament cannot be mute spectators in such a situation.”
CPN-UML lawmaker Rewati Raman Bhandari also asked the government to inform the House about the whereabouts of Karki and form a parliamentary impeachment recommendation committee in line with Article 101 of the Constitution of Nepal.
