The report prepared based on field study and media reports states that millions of rupees was misused in distributing immediate cash relief in the past to fake survivors. The cash relief of Rs15,000 as immediate cash relief to earthquake victim was distributed based on political connection, depriving needy people of the aid.
The report has also mentioned that government-allocated funds were largely misused while purchasing tent, tarpaulin, medicine and establishing temporary learning classes.
The anti-graft body said more cases of irregularities will surface in days ahead if the government fails to
verify numbers of earthquake survivors while distributing big cash and implementing rehabilitation schemes for survivors.
“So, we have suggested the government to verify the number of quake survivors before providing any kind of relief,” said DIG Pashupati Upadhyay, who was assigned to investigate relief-related irregularities.
Stating that it has still been investigating into the matter, the anti-graft body has assured of taking action against all wrongdoers.
