The national Under-16 football team had left for Bangladesh on August 6 to play the biennial tournament. Nepal has had to content with second and third positions in previous editions both held in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The tournament comprising six countries—Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Maldives—has been divided in two groups.
Of the groups, Nepal, Afghanistan and Maldives are in Group 'B' while defending champions India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are in Group 'A'. The top two teams from each group will make it to the semi-finals. Pakistan and Bhutan are not contesting in the tournament this time. RSS
