The remarks from the former PM come after Shah, in his Democracy Day message, appealed to the parties to implement the agreement reportedly reached before he abdicated his throne.

“We had asked former king Gyanendra to hand over all the rights to the people and the dissolved parliament was reinstated accordingly,” Nepal said on Friday. “After I was released from house arrest, Indian leader Karan Singh had also brought up the proposal of ‘baby king’ in a meeting at our party office in Balkhu, but I  rejected the proposal outright.”

Late Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala and Nepal, among others, had held talks with Shah on behalf of the seven-party alliance that had spearheaded the revolt against the royal regime.
