CIAA lodges case against CAN office bearers
CIAA on Sunday filed charge-sheet against several officials of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) including its Chairman Tanka Aangbuhang Limbu.Ekantipur Report
The anti-graft body had in April initiated investigation into the alleged irregularities in CAN after the disgruntled national cricket team decided to boycott the one-day national cricket tournament demanding the ouster of the current cricket authorities. The players had also complained that they were deprived of allowances.
The charge-sheet filed by the CIAA at the Special Court today includes vice-chairpersons Chatur Bahadur Chand, Sunil Man Amatya and Binod Kumar Mainali, General Secretary Ashok Nath Pyakurel, Treasurer Raju Babu Shrestha, members Kiran Shumsher Rana, Thakur Pratap Thapa, Thakur Prasad Pahadi and Purna Bahadur Lama, and National Sports Council’s engineer Arun Upadhyay.
The CIAA has charged the CAN officials of being involved in financial irregularities during the construction of an international cricket stadium in Mulpani. Likewise, the officials have also been accused of embezzling funds while purchasing sports items.
