A meeting of Constitutional Council (CC) on Monday recommended Acting Chief Justice Damodar Prasad Sharma as the Chief Justice (CJ) at the Supreme Court.

The CC meeting held at the Prime Minister's office in Singhadurbar on Monday morning took the decision to this effect.

The CJ post was lying vacant after former CJ Khil Raj Regmi, resigned on February 11.

Meanwhile, the CC has forwarded the decision to the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC).

The president will appoint the CJ following the endorsement by the PHSC.
