Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 2,031 with one more death; national tally reaches 271,431 with 142 new infections

Nepal on Wednesday reported one more Covid-19-related fatality, pushing the death toll to 2,031. The country also recorded 142 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 271,431 with 2,335 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 267,065 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 206 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 55 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 44 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, eight in Lalitpur and three in Bhaktapur.
As of Wednesday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 126,889. While Kathmandu has reported 499 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 160 and 115 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 998 individuals from Bagmati Province, 287 from Lumbini Province, 226 from Province 1, 219 from Province 2, 209 from Gandaki Province, 65 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Wednesday, 2,081,695 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 3,597 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, eight new infections were recorded in Province 1, three in Province 2 and 66 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim reported 22, 40 and three cases respectively. Karnali Province did not report any cases today.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Bhojpur, Kalikot, Rukum (West) and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
Until Wednesday, 61 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country, 17 others—13 in Bagmati Province, two in Lumbini and one each in Gandaki and Karnali—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Tuesday reported one Covid-19-related death and 171 new cases. Similarly, 159 new infections were recorded in the country on Monday and two deaths and 105 new cases on Sunday.
