Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 2,030 with one more death; national tally reaches 271,289 with 171 new infections

Nepal on Tuesday reported one more Covid-19-related fatality, pushing the death toll to 2,030. The country also recorded 171 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 271,289 with 2,400 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 266,859 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 259 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 65 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 57 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, five in Lalitpur and three in Bhaktapur.
As of Tuesday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 126,834. While Kathmandu has reported 499 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 160 and 115 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 998 individuals from Bagmati Province, 286 from Lumbini Province, 226 from Province 1, 219 from Province 2, 209 from Gandaki Province, 65 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Tuesday, 2,078,098 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 2,946 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, seven new infections were recorded in Province 1, three in Province 2 and 100 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki Lumbini and Sudurpaschim reported 36, 17 and eight cases respectively. Karnali Province did not report any cases today.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Bhojpur, Kalikot, Rukum (West) and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
Until Tuesday, 68 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country, 16 others—11 in Bagmati Province, three in Lumbini and one each in Gandaki and Karnali—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Monday had reported 159 new infections and zero deaths. Similarly, two Covid-19 deaths and 105 new cases were reported on Sunday and two deaths and 109 new cases were recorded in the country on Saturday.
