Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,614 with 20 more deaths; national tally reaches 241,995 with 1,014 new infections

Nepal on Monday reported 20 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,614. The country also recorded 1,014 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 241,995 with 12,948 active cases.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 227,433 infected people have recovered from the disease so far, with 1,628 of them in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 442 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 344 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 67 in Lalitpur and 31 in Bhaktapur.
As of Monday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 112,904. While Kathmandu has reported 414 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 124 and 96 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 823 individuals from Bagmati Province, 214 from Lumbini Province, 200 from Province 2, 199 from Province 1, 110 from Gandaki Province, 44 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 24 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Monday, 1,790,739 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,220 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 76 new infections were reported in Province 1, 26 in Province 2, and 524 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 83, 176, 31 and 98 cases respectively.
Three districts—Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Kaski—have more than 500 active cases. Manang and Dolpa districts do not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 332 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 53 others— 30 in Bagmati Province, nine in Gandaki, six in Province 1, three each in Province 2 and Lumbini Province, and two in Sudurpaschim Province—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Sunday reported 17 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,096 new infections. Similarly, 10 deaths and 1,024 new cases were recorded in the country on Saturday and 16 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,272 new infections on Friday.
