Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,577 with 10 more deaths; national tally reaches 239,885 with 1,024 new infections

Nepal on Saturday reported 10 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,577. The country also recorded 1,024 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 239,885 with 14,255 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 224,053 infected people have recovered from the disease so far, with 2,206 of them in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 432 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 349 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 65 in Lalitpur and 18 in Bhaktapur.
As of Saturday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 111,978. While Kathmandu has reported 397 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 122 and 95 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 802 individuals from Bagmati Province, 211 from Lumbini Province, 197 from Province 2, 195 from Province 1, 108 from Gandaki Province, 41 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 23 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Saturday, 1,778,024 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,074 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 86 new infections were reported in Province 1, 48 in Province 2, and 574 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 93, 108, seven and 108 cases respectively.
Six districts—Jhapa, Morang, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kaski—have more than 500 active cases. Manang and Dolpa districts do not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 312 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 45 others— 24 in Bagmati Province, seven in Gandaki, six in Province 1, five in Lumbini Province, two in Sudurpaschim Province, and one in Province 2—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Friday had reported 16 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,272 new infections. Similarly, 13 deaths and 1,343 new infections were recorded in the country on Thursday and nine deaths and 1,490 new infections on Wednesday.
