Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,594 with 17 more deaths; national tally reaches 240,981 with 1,096 new infections

Nepal on Sunday reported 17 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,594. The country also recorded 1,096 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 240,981 with 13,582 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 225,805 infected people have recovered from the disease so far, with 1,752 of them in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 484 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 351 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 74 in Lalitpur and 59 in Bhaktapur.
As of Sunday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 112,462. While Kathmandu has reported 407 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 122 and 95 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 813 individuals from Bagmati Province, 212 from Lumbini Province, 198 from Province 2, 196 from Province 1, 110 from Gandaki Province, 42 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 23 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Sunday, 1,784,519 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,495 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 137 new infections were reported in Province 1, 29 in Province 2, and 563 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 166, 137, two and 62 cases respectively.
Five districts—Jhapa, Morang, Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Kaski—have more than 500 active cases. Manang and Dolpa districts do not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 313 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 55 others— 31 in Bagmati Province, eight in Gandaki, six in Province 1, five in Lumbini Province, three in Province 2 and two in Sudurpaschim Province—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday reported 10 more Covid-19-related fatalities and 1,024 new cases. The country on Friday had reported 16 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,272 new infections. Similarly, 13 deaths and 1,343 new infections were recorded in the country on Thursday and nine deaths and 1,490 new infections on Wednesday.
