Manang Marsyangdi, Police get their first win
Manang Marsyangdi Club have won the top-tier league the most number of times—eight—and Nepal Police have won the league five times, the third-most after six titles by Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT).Post Report
Manang Marsyangdi Club and Nepal Police FC are two of the most decorated football clubs of Nepal. The two teams share 13 A-Division League titles between them.
Manang Marsyangdi Club have won the top-tier league the most number of times—eight—and Nepal Police have won the league five times, the third-most after six titles by Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT).
Meanwhile, the two clubs have had a poor start at the ANFA National League, which is being played between 17 teams and is termed as the top-tier league for the 2026 season.
Manang Marsyangdi had suffered three straight defeats, while Nepal Police lost twice and played a draw in their last three fixtures. However, on Monday, during their fourth respective match of the league, the two clubs got their first win at the ANFA Complex.
Further, Manang Marsyangdi won their first match in a dominating fashion, with a 5-1 win over Kankrebihar Club. Suresh Kumal scored the first for Manang Marsyangdi in the 16th minute, while Sandip Deuba got the equaliser for Kankrebihar four minutes later.
But after Anil Kumar Panche Magar got the lead back to Manang Marsyangdi in the 25th minute, the goal tally saw a halt after Gideon Naah Kyeremeh’s brace in the 54th and 85th minutes, alongside one by Nawa Raj Gurung in the 80th.
On the other hand, Nepal Police did not get their first win easily. The departmental side won by 1-0 against a newly promoted A-Division club, Shree Bhagawati Club. And it was an own goal that saw Nepal Police win.
Shree Bhagawati’s Peter Segun tried to stop a cross by Manish Sedai from the right flank. However, Segun’s touch was not clean and the ball got deflected before getting past goalkeeper Biwash Chaudhary in the 37th minute.
There are two matches at the ANFA Complex on Tuesday. The first game at 11am will see Tribhuvan Army FC face Laligurans Association Club. Laligurans have won their last three matches, while Army have won two and drawn one. The second game at 3pm will see Planning Boyz United face Satdobato Youth Club.
