Kathmandu Gurkhas set a modest target of 104 runs for Lumbini Lions in their ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) match at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, on Monday.
Opting to bat first, Kathmandu struggled to find form, getting bowled out for 103 runs. Their innings lacked substantial partnerships, with Bhim Sharki emerging as the top scorer, contributing 31 runs off 40 balls before being stumped by Arjun Saud off Abhishek Gautam’s delivery.
Other batters fell cheaply: Stephen Eskinazi scored 13 runs, Stephen Eskinazi failed to open his account, Gerhard Erasmus managed just 1 run, Sumit Maharjan 4 runs, and Rashid Khan 1 run. Contributions from Dan Douthwaite (21 runs), Pratik Shrestha (20 runs off 14 balls), and Karan KC (1 run) weren’t enough to steady the innings. Dipesh Kandel remained not out on 0.
Lumbini’s bowlers delivered an impressive performance. Saad Bin Zafar claimed 3 wickets, while Ramon Simmons and Abhishek Gautam each picked up 2 wickets. Surya Tamang and Bibek Yadav chipped in with a wicket apiece. Captain Rohit bowled two overs but went wicketless.
