Author Keshab Dahal’s new book, ‘Madhavi O Madhavi’, a collection of 23 freewheeling essays, was launched amid a function at Shilpee Theatre in Kathmandu on Friday.
“Written in a new style, the book is primarily an account of the Nepali society, its psychology, and political twists and turns,” Kalpana Dhakal, chief executive officer of Kitab Publishers, said in a statement. “Though it’s a non-fiction title, it also offers the flavour of fiction.”
Speaking at the book launch function, author Dahal said that the book comprises both his published and unpublished essays and those pieces that have already been published have been polished for the book. “The book opens a trapdoor through which one can look into the life and times of my generation,” he said.
At the function, Dahal engaged in a conversation with the novelist Uma Subedi. The function also saw Kumar Nagarkoti, the author known for his genre-bending works, recite some of his idiosyncratic poetry; one title read: ‘I’m Devkota’s mad poetry, of minds’ and psyches’ historical mystery.’
Speaking at the function, actor and director Ghimire Yubaraj said that Dahal’s ‘Madhavi’ provides a perspective into how a person’s cultural, political, and economic situation shapes their worldview and beliefs. “These stylish essays pay attention to details,” he said.
