The teaser, which opens up with the hit Nepali song Suna Saili by Hemanta Rana, follows the lead actor Deepak Raj Giri who is riding a motorcycle along with co-actor Buddhi Tamang. The trailer teases that the sequel will continue to explore similar themes to the original movie—including the impact labour migration has on Nepali families and relationships.
Directed by Deepashree Niraula, the film will feature actors Deepak Raj Giri and Swastima Khadka in lead roles, along with comedians Jitu Nepal, Kedar Ghimire and Buddhi Tamang. The movie had gone into production in April this year, and includes new comers Swastima Khadka and Swaroop Purush Dhakal, who join the already star-studded cast.
Chhakka Panja, which released in September 2016, soared into the illustrious 1-crore-club on its very first weekend, went on to eventually gross more than Rs 20 crores worldwide, to overshadow Kohinoor as Kollywood’s highest grossing movie.
Chhakka Panja 2 will release on September 27, right before the Dashain festival.
