The 13th Chitwan Elephant Mahastov saw an influx of audience on Wednesday as the host of the event had announced the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a day before. Contemplating whether the real Prime Minister or the fake one is coming, the audience stayed at the event till late evening, till ‘he’ was actually seen.
As the dusk started invading the venue, comedian Manoj Gajurel, dressed as Modi, came riding an elephant, to everyone’s surprise and applause. Gajurel who didn’t reveal his identity to the audience talked with the host of the show regarding a range of issues, including the prolonged blockade last year. His skit sent surges of laughter through the audience, time and again.
The fest, a day before, had seen folk singer Badri Pangini perform some of his popular songs. On Tuesday, singer Milan Lama also made the audience dance with his song Ghar Ma Paral Bari Ma Banso.
Also performing at the event were artists Nitraji Panta, Uma Giri, Juna DC, and Shantishri Pariyar, among others.
