The film fest is being organised by the Himalayan Velocity in association with the state’s Department of Language, Art and Culture, and Himachal Pradesh University in Shimla.
Bhagyele Bachekaharu, which will represent Nepal at the fest, has been directed by Ganesh Panday. The documentary revolves around astounding events of survival in the wake of the earthquakes that rattled Nepal last year. The documentary features historic footages from previous earthquakes, live footages of heroic rescues, and interviews with survivors.
The documentary has already been screened in more than three dozen film festivals around the world and is winning rave reviews elsewhere.
The film’s unprecedented run of popularity started off with two wins at last year’s Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival 2015 (KIMFF). The documentary bagged awards for Best Documentary under Nepal Panorama section and Public Choice Award at the festival.
The film fest will see the screening of 54 films from around the world.
