Kanta dAb dAb to release debut album
The band to release the album exclusively on a pen drive—a first for NepalNepali fusion band Kanta dAb dAb are all set to launch their debut album at an event scheduled to be held at the Alliance Francaise of Kathmandu, on Wednesday, February 3.
The band was formed two years ago by three musicians engaged in the Nepali music scene for more than 20 years—the band comprises of former members of Nepali rock heavyweights, Mukti ’n Revival, Robin and Looza, Hari Maharjan Project, and Nepathya.
The band consists of Sunit Kansakar on the sitar, Rizu Tuladhar on the bass, and Nikhil Tuladhar on percussion. The debut album will feature fusion grooves with a blend of Eastern and Western music
sensibilities. Composed, mixed and arranged by the musicians themselves, the album will be the first Nepali album that will be released exclusively on a pen drive.
The album includes songs in both MP3 and Wav format, along with photos, bonus videos, and a presentation of the band’s socio-cultural project, Musicians for Musicians, which aims to preserve and promote the endangered heritage of Nepalese Traditional Music.
The two-year-long project, also to be launched at the release ceremony, will focus on the identification of skilled traditional musicians from the rural areas of Nepal, and will mark its closure at the first0
traditional music festival in Nepal, scheduled to be held at the end of 2017.
The band is also set to tour
across countries such as Germany and Finland come June and July.
