ABiR Designer Hub to host workshop on crocheting
The workshop will teach participants how to weave circular fashion and revive a fading craft.
Post Report
ABiR Designer Hub is organising a 10-day ‘‘The Crochet Kickstart’’ Advanced Crocheting Training Programme from August 3 at Pimbahal, Lalitpur. The free training will be held daily from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, and is tailored for creators seeking to refine their crochet skills while contributing to sustainable and circular fashion practices. With only six seats available, participants are selected on a first-come, first-served basis, allowing for focused and meaningful engagement.
The initiative is part of ABiR’s long-standing commitment to working with crochet and knitting artists—crafts deeply tied to the brand's own beginnings. ‘‘This training is made possible through a small fund we received via the Impact Hub incubation programme, supporting our mission of sustainability,’’ said Bini Bajracharya, founder of ABiR Designer Hub. ‘‘Crochet is a low-waste, local skill, and this workshop is a way to keep it alive and relevant; both as independent products and integrated into fashion. We hope some trained participants will join our team, while others may launch their own creative paths.”
The training is being led by Sarita Deuja, a skilled crochet artisan with over five years of experience. Deuja has been producing work for ABiR’s in-house collections and is part of ABiR’s artisan hub, which collaborates with over a dozen small enterprises across Nepal.
The brand also aims to expand the programme to include stitching workshops, particularly focused on repair and repurposing waste fabrics, furthering their commitment to sustainability.
As interest in reviving and modernising crochet grows, ABiR’s training provides a vital bridge between heritage craft and contemporary design thinking; offering both creative expression and economic opportunity.
