Kathmandu hosts the Zonta International District 25 Conference

Zonta International District 25 Conference is happening in Kathmandu from October 6 to October 8. This is the first time the annual conference is being organised in Nepal, and participants from over 150 countries, including Bangladesh, India, Nepal, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, will be present at the event jointly organised by Zonta Club Kathmandu and Zonta Club Pokhara.
The conference will address issues like women’s empowerment, gender violence and the impact of climate change on women. As part of their mission to advance women’s empowerment, the organisers will award scholarships to several young women, including Swikriti Neupane (Nepal), who is the recipient of the ‘Jane M Klausman (JMK) Women in Business Scholarship (2022-23)’, and Yumna Zahid (Sri Lanka), who received the 2023 Young Women in Public Affairs Award.
Many notable figures, including Minister of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Surendra Raj Acharya, Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol, Treasurer/Secretary of Zonta International and Zonta Foundation for Women Souella M Cumming will attend the event. Former resident representative of UNDP Nepal Bharti Silwal Giri is the keynote speaker. The conference will be led by Shreejana Ranal, the governor of Zonta Club District 25.
